Type 1 error in Hypothesis test of One population mean

This is my sceanrio. The hypothesis is that "Polytechnic students are the group who consume more than the average mobile data usage per month in Singapore" This is the claim as it is in the question/sceanrio.
The population mean is 1.95 GB per month per subscriber in the last 12 months.
Thus forming the hypothesis statement, x is the group of poly students who consume mobile data
The null hypothesis will be that $x$ will be smaller or equals to 1.95
while $H_1$ will be $x > 1.95$ (which is the claim)
I am trying to understand committing the type 1 error in this hypothesis and in this context. How do i put it in words so that i can understand? From what i understand -
Type 1 error occurs when we reject the null hypothesis and concludes that other people except polytechnic students use more mobile data when in fact it is false that other people use more data than polytechnic students. Given the level of significance in the hypothesis test is 0.05, i can also say that i am willing to accept a 5% chance that i am wrong when i reject the null hypothesis.
i dont understand all of these. Is there a better way to understand and explain committing the type 1 error in this context?
