The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD |
---|
Also known as: Zelda no Densetsu: Kaze no Takuto HD (JP) This game has unused areas. |
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD depicts the land of Hyrule after global warming, in high definition!
To do: There are most likely leftovers from the conversion process. Also, this may have some debug controls, which were used to create the "The Misadventures of Link" miniseries on Nintendo Video. |

Internal Project Name
The Wind Waker HD is referred to internally as "cking", a play on the words "sea king". The reason for this becomes apparent when looking at the internal names of other Zelda games released in the same timeframe: Ocarina of Time 3D is known as "Queen", A Link Between Worlds is known as "Jack", and Majora's Mask 3D is known as "Joker", while Tri Force Heroes is known as "Alice".
The last moniker might seem out of place, until you remember the playing card elements in the classic tale of Alice in Wonderland, which this seems to be a reference to.
The internal name may also be reflected in the game's two letter code "CZ" (C Zelda).
General Leftovers
To do: cafeUSAudioResJAudioRes may need investigation. Could be unused for all I know. |
Unused Audio
AudioRes/stream/00_e3title.r.32.c4.dspadpcm.bfstm is an identical conversion of the unused stream from Wind Waker.
Unused Maps
To do: More testing, spawning Makar in Cave08 for better footage, improving details. |
Map data is stored in the Stage folder. There are 41 maps that were converted with the rest of the WWHD assets. Most, if not all, of the stages were updated texture-wise. About 24 maps were removed from the game in the conversion process, mainly test levels. The unused room models have issues with the new lighting engine, resulting in polygonal artifacts.
tincle
A leftover from the GameCube version. As with the original game, the walls, floor, roof, and a painting in the corner have the same texture.
|
ITest61
This one is known from the GameCube version. It seems to be an early version of the Bomb Island's cave. It has another test version called SubD51 (see below).
|
A_nami
Another leftover area of the GameCube version, although this time it has no background. The grass piles form giant Triforces.
|
Cave06
This test level was probably meant to be the final room of Savage Labyrinth. The treasure chest contains a Piece of Heart, the treasure found in the original GameCube version, instead of the Hero's Charm.
|
Cave08
This Wind Temple test level is normally unfathomable due its dense white fog. But applying a color modifier makes everything visible. Entering the unlocked door will soft lock the game. The stage folder contains sub-rooms of this map but they are inaccessible since Makar is missing but needed to unlock the door.
|
DmSpot0
This early version of Outset Island is known from the GameCube version. It has grass, trees and pots on different locations and more pigs. Even the pirate ship is there. The path to the upper part of the isle is blocked by 2 wooden barriers. Orca's house looks a little bit different, has its ground level door opened and it is on the left side of the house.
|
Ebesso
Another leftover area from the GameCube version. This island consists of a donut shaped isle that has a little white house in its center. The house has no door and you need to jump to get on its stairway. Attempting to go upstairs regularly will kill Link.
|
PShip2
This one is an early pirate ship mini dungeon. It's exactly the same as PShip3 but brighter. The chest contains treasure chart 43.
|
PShip3
Another early version of a pirate ship. It's exactly the same as PShip2 but darker. The chest contains treasure chart 43, too.
|
SubD44
Another leftover from the GameCube version. The round corridor is full of boxes which you can climb up with the hookshot. This corridor is connected to the entry room, 4 enemy rooms (2 for each kind of Amos) and a treasure room. The treasure room's chest contains treasure chart 45 (on the GameCube version it contains a Triforce chart).
|
SubD51
The other test version of the Bomb Island's mini-dungeon. In the first room you have to put a paralyzed Magtail on the switch to open the door. The main room contains a lot of stone blocks.
