Debug Tools

Unlike the Genesis version and its obfuscated passwords, the SNES passwords are stored in plain ASCII. That doesn't mean the programmers didn't have any tricks up their sleeves, though: among the 10 stage passwords is CHEESE, so what happens if you enter it?

Password Error
Say cheese! No dice.

You get a "Password Error" message, but press R, R, A, B, A, B, L, L, Start. A sound effect will play to confirm that a stage select and invulnerability toggle have been added to the Options screen, and you'll be returned to the title screen.

The button sequence check is located at SNES address $17F7BA, and the stored button presses at $17FB62-17FB73.
