Pointless anecdote: All the graphics for the Windows Vista/7 version are stored within the creatively titled MineSweeper.dll. Also, all the graphics are in either .PNG or .JPG formats. Sounds, at least for the Windows Vista version, were in .WAV format, if I recall. --From: divingkataetheweirdo 17:08, 18 November 2012 (EST)

Pointless reply: I checked the version on my computer (Windows 7) and the sounds are apparently stored in WMA format. There's also two sets of icons and graphics - Mines and... flowers, each one with their own music and sound schemes. // Foxhack 17:19, 18 November 2012 (EST)

Split

I think this article, along with the FreeCell, Hearts and Solitaire articles, should be split, as they cover two games by two different developers. Thoughts? --AttackedbyGlitch 21:31, 12 August 2013 (EDT)

Agreed, as per your reasons. {EspyoT} 07:41, 13 August 2013 (EDT)

Various strings not used during normal gameplay

I don't know if it's worth mentioning but Minesweeper in 2000 and XP version have various strings not used in normal gameplay:

  • Minesweeper Error

  • Unable to allocate a timer. Please exit some of your applications and try again.

  • Out of Memory

  • Error: %d

You can view it by using Resource Hacker and loading winmine.exe

No, we really don't cover generic error messages unless there is something unique and interesting about them. --BMF54123 (talk) 15:30, 17 June 2014 (EDT)

Windows 2000/NT version

I'm pretty sure that nothing was "reverted" from Windows 98 to 2000. 2000 only contains the older graphics because it's based on Windows NT, and the graphics were never updated in the NT branch (NT 3.x, 4.0 and 2000). Schule04 (talk) 17:12, 23 December 2016 (EST)
